CORD co-founder and programme director Daniel Khor previously worked as an FX dealer based in the US. Upon his return to Singapore he left the banking industry to pursue something of interest and passion which is close to his heart: “Coaching rugby”.

In 2006, after coaching rugby for many years. He decided to establish and operate a rugby club called Ta’Moko Lions Rugby Football Club with a couple of his good rugby mates.  It started out with just 6 players but it has grown to over 60 players in the last couple of years.

Having more than 10 years of coaching experience in local schools in Singapore Daniel saw a need to set up a club to help those less fortunate kids that want to improve their rugby skills, and play for a club.

Daniel says: “CORD is something I strongly believe in and following the 5 core principles of rugby from the IRB, it will help change lives and help them better themselves through rugby, studies and work”.

His time spent in Investment Banking involved assessing companies for bond issues and IPOs, then bringing the deals to market. His responsibilities covered evaluation of businesses & markets, product pricing, pitch presentation, marketing, sales & trading, media co-ordination and roadshow structuring.

In 2002, Tim founded Centaurs Group, a founding member of CORD, and has grown the company from a fledgling rugby coaching business into a multi-faceted sports and recreational company with 6 active divisions. The Centaurs ethos is to inspire children and adults to better themselves by involving them in many sporting and adventure activities. This mantra of one striving to achieve more, fits perfectly with what CORD is setting out to achieve: to give less fortunate youths the chance to improve their lives and chances for their futures.

Tim says: “CORD is an imperative in Singapore. It will attract the support of corporates, institutions and individuals wishing to be involved more closely with local communities; their social responsibility. At the same time less fortunate children who are from broken homes, low income families or have been plagued with troubled early years, can be given the opportunity to turn around their lives through the 5 core principles of rugby (Integrity, Passion, Solidarity, Discipline and Respect) and given a chance to achieve more than they thought possible.”
